News 12 Hudson Valley: Residents, employees fight to keep Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital alive

The fight to keep Mount Vernon's only hospital open continued Monday evening with another town hall.

Montefiore Mount Vernon has called the area home for over a century, but it is set to be replaced with a $41 million medical center and ER that will not include inpatient care.

Those who require inpatient care or a hospital stay would be transferred to one of the four hospitals within 4 miles.

Monday's meeting was the second town hall on the matter, and some residents wouldn't let the hospital go down without a fight.

"Making an executive decision without thinking of the community is somewhat unfortunate, and so I'm here on behalf of the committee hoping there will be a change of heart," said registered nurse Brenessa David.
